“Mobile Me”?! $50 Says Our Readers Can Pick a Better Name!

Apple to change .Mac to Mobile Me?!

[Note: Official $50 Phone Different Store gift card says our readers can pick a better name than "Mobile Me". See below for details!]

If you hear the steady sound of thumping, as though something were continuously bumping, that’s not the GPS industry going into cardiac arrest at the mere thought of the iPhone 3G’s specs, that’s [...]

Steve Jobs: Architect of the iPhone

Another day, another Apple patent. This one’s a biggie, the whole iPhone enchilada. Current functionality and future potentials (web clips? blogging app?) all rolled into one monstrous document, and all sitting beneath the top-tiered name of Steve Jobs. Yup. According the US Patent Office, El Jobso was the architect of the iPhone. And you know [...]

Update: 10 Million iPhone March

10 Million iPhone March

Confusion. Confusion. Did Steve Jobs say Apple would sell 10 million iPhones by the end of 2008, or during 2008?

What’s the diff? About 6 months and a 3+ million head start.

See, the first scenario means Apple has roughly 18 months — from the June 29th, 2007 release day to December 31st, 2008 — to move [...]

Patent Watch: iPhone Spidey Sense to Tingle?

iPhone Spidey Sense to Tingle

Okay, so technically Apple isn’t patenting “Spidey Sense” (TM Marvel Comics, of course), but a system to warn users of impending dropped signals, be they cellular or WiFi.

So, by way of example, if I called Steve Jobs to tell him I snapped a pick of the iPhone 3.0 prototype, and Rogers’ service began to cut [...]

Sure, Back-to-my-Mac can rock, and syncing can be oh-so-sweet, but c’mon, what have you done for us lately?

Could be a lot, if rumors pan out. We’ve already [...]

CEOh-Snap! Dell to Jobs: Let’s Get it On!

Jobs vs. Dell

Michael Dell has gone done and opened his mouth about Apple again:

“Yeah, I could take [Steve Jobs in a fight].”

He’s gone done and done it before, of course:

“What would I do [with Apple]? I’d shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders.”

And we all know how well that’s worked out. Any [...]

iFund Bingo: Pelago’s Whrll a Go!

iFund Bingo

Way back in March at the iPhone SDK Roadmap Event, Steve Jobs brought a little company up on stage called Kleiner Perkins and, more importantly, he brought out Kleiner Perkin’s wallet and waved a nice, crisp $100,000,000 dollar bill in developers’ faces: the iFund.

Well, it’s been a while but it looks like some developers are [...]

iPhone SDK Beta 6: Now Carding!

iPhone 2.0

Apple has just dropped the sixth (6th!) update to their iPhone SDK and 2.0 beta firmware. Pre-req is Apple’s almost simultaneously dropped OS X Leopard update, 10.5.3, so developers are forewarned to get that first before beginning the SDK install.

No word yet on what new treasures may be hiding in this version, but if past [...]

Ladies and gentlemen, we give you the first ever live demo of Google’s new Android platform… and it’s on the iPhone!

Maybe it’s me. Maybe it’s a proof of concept. Maybe it’s because of the Diamond. Maybe it’s just a hormone thing. But does all the innovation have to [...]
