Rumorous Maximus: Apple Holding Special Event January 26

The Financial Times is dropping the Apple Special Media Event bomb:
Apple is expected to use the venue to make a major product announcement on Tuesday, January 26th. Both YBCA and Apple declined to comment.
Apple’s last event introduced the iPod touch G3 back in September. Absent Macworld this year, their next cyclical event would be an iPhone OS Sneak Preview in March.
If this event is real, there’s no way to know what Apple will announce. Of course, everyone and their Twitter account will be guessing, and perhaps hoping for, an actual Apple iTablet. (Which means if it’s “only” iLife ‘10 there’ll be a mini riot on the interwebs, right?)
It’s almost new year; put on your prediction hat and tell us what will happen!

I think they will announce that Rene has been hired to maintain a public blog regarding Apple’s activities.

Ever since they discontinued the Newton I’ve been waiting for this day.

i am sure iPhone OS 4.0 will be presented in that event, if it will really take place

It would make sense release the iTablet then preview 4.0 at the event. Wow everyone and stick it to google all at once. Puts them back on top of mobile media. Heck why not throw in a tv subscription service to boot and claim world dominance. Then release 4.0 in march with the tablet. Would explain no reaction to the stood an no minor update. It’s time for them to reinvent or become a commodity like everyone else.

I do t think it’s going to be the tablet. I think it will be iLife and spec bumps on existing desktop and laptop lines. Sorry Apple nation

I think Apple has to introduce a tablet device asap in order to face the increasing competition from the android platform. Several new android tablet devices have already been announced and will be demonstrated during CES 2010.

I’m hoping for iPhone OS 4 preview, Apple TV subscription models, perhaps a la carte programming/DVR-esqe functionality (I can dump cable TV finally!!!), and a preview of the iTablet. I think all products would be released in summer 2010, which will, once again, torture us for six months or so!

Once again, I urge you to think positively about a 3.5 G and WiFi/wiMAX iTablet that can run iPhone apps & games, iChat, VoIP- like GoogleVoice and Skype, AND multitasking. Add an iLife Lite suite of apps built in and optional iWork and MobileMe (no hard disk, flash memory with OS in ROM) and a touchscreen version of SnowLeopard (why else do you think “honey, we shrank the OS?”) and you’ve got an evey-other-device killer!

Macbook Pro’s with i5 + i7 processors.
January 17th, 2010 at 11:37 pm
Uh i5, i7?? Keep dreaming you need cooling beyond that of q laptop from apple to use one of those. Plus there’s no program, unless your cruncing numbers that uses that much processing. It’s just not economically feasable. However if it’s not realeased I think we are going to preview 4.0. I mean if they aren’t going to realeased 3.2 then I’m guessing they have bigger plans. Plus if they are introducing a tablet they will probably introduce an edited form of iPhone os to accomodate it’s features. And if you going to edit it’s firmware why not change the other similar devices as well.
