BlueAnt Q1 Receives Firmware Update Which Enables A2DP Audio Streaming

One of our favorite Bluetooth headsets, the BlueAnt Q1, has just gotten an major firmware update that enables A2DP audio streaming along with some other fixes and small functions.
- The Q1 now includes A2DP audio streaming, so you can listen to music, podcasts, and hear turn-by-turn direction information from a phone GPS application. If your phone or GPS application supports A2DP simply start playing music or launch the GPS application and the audio will automatically transfer to the Q1.
- In response to customer feedback BlueAnt made it even easier to end a call: now you end calls with a single click of the BlueAnt button.
- Double-clicking the BlueAnt button during a call now switches between Voice Isolation Standard and Max.
The update process for your Q1 headset to firmware version 8.19 is a quick and painless. Simply head on over to BlueAnt’s website, download the updater tool, and following the directions. The update currently can only be done on Windows machines with an Mac update tool coming soon.

The new update is cool! My only complaint is that the speed-dial function doesn’t work from my Q1 anymore. It says it’s dialing whatever speed-dial number I call, but it never dials. Other than that, the streaming function works great! Text and email notifications can be heard through the headset as well.

@PJ – I have the same problem: A2DP is great, but the update totally broke voice dialing. I called BlueAnt support but they will not acknowledge the problem (yet). Hope the next update fixes it. Soon.
Anyone have a Q1 with 8.19 firmware that is still able to voice dial?
For the record, I have a jailbroken iPhone 3G with 3.1.2 firmware.

This update seals the deal–I am getting this instead of the Jawbome PRIME.

Doesn’t seem to work on my iPhone with 3.0.1; does work on my buddy’s iPhone with 3.1.2.

@Eric & @PJ I just got one on Ebay and its working great, but the speed dial isn’t working at all. Any ideas on this. I have a jailbroken 3G on 3.1.2. My Q1 is 8.15.
Thanks

For those with speed dial problems, the firmware update clears those out, you just have to reset them up…

@Chris is correct. I have a jailbroken iPhone 3G. I got a blueant Q1 on Ebay that was on 8.15. After I upgraded to 8.19 the speed dial started working fine.

Latest Q1 firmware works fine with my jailbroken 3G. The TomTom car dock app (not the nav program but the free app from TomTom) broke the speed dialing. I removed the app and voice speed dial worked again.

To all, firmware 8.19 works flawlessly with my jailbroken phone (speed dial and all). The secret is, after updating the firmware, delete the pairing off of your iPhone, reboot your iPhone and setup everything as new. That fixed my speed dial problem, and A2DP is great. As far as I can tell, there is nothing wrong with Jailbroken phones.

Druce is right. Delete the pairing on your iphone after updating, reboot the iphone, re-pair and your all set. My voice dial and A2DP works great and I’m using a jailbroken 3GS

Please note that: * This Updater software works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 (32 bit versions only). * When the Updater prompts you to connect your Q1 to your computer, use a USB port that is directly attached to your PC. The Updater will not work if you connect your Q1 through a USB hub.

32 bit version only! WTF I paid huge sums for this thing, the least they could do is repay with their firmware being updated, not antiquated! My 3GS is slowly suffering
