Update: O2 to Start Selling iPhone 3G S at 9:02am? Preparing for Sell Out?
Very brand-conscious start time aside, looks like UK customers on O2 now know what time the queue ends and the buying begins…
UPDATE: Sounds like the second poster, below, might be there just in case a store sells out and wants to inform customers. Thanks to everyone in the comments for logic-ing this out!
Due to high demand we have run out of the iPhone 3G S
The good news is there are more coming soon
Ask a member of staff for details
Posterized version after the break!

All those moaners about the upgrade and how they won’t pay it… Yet they sold out… Go figure.
June 18th, 2009 at 9:04 am
That’ll nicely explain away why nobody is queuing for them this time around.

What BS, they are not sold out, they haven’t even started selling them yet in the UK, pre-orders are non existent, I have just been to the o2 store and they say they have alot of inventory and do not forsee any shortages like last year. Carphone Warehouse say exactly the same.

Obviously this is just an automatic update based upon a stock monitoring system – calm down.
And Darren, instead of whining yourself, why don’t you take a look at what’s actually going on? If you knew anything about the situation you’d know that they can’t have sold out yet as release isn’t until tomorrow.

Actually, o2 in GT Yarmouth is taking pre-orders, I was number three on the list

Rene, the article heading should be “3G S” and not “3G”… Cheers

It is BS-my local O2 store are getting 20 of EACH variant (16G and 32G black and white) and that’s a very small branch. The manager said interest was miniscule compared to the last release ’stampede’.

We have not sold-out of the iPhone 3G or iPhone 3G S. The iPhone 3G S does not go on sale until tomorrow – Friday 19th June.

IM GETTING 1 TOMORROW AT 9:02!!!!
June 18th, 2009 at 10:46 am
Wow lol…that’s quite impossible, seeing that it’s not out until the 19th.

@ O2 Press Office
Perhaps you would care to comment on not offering upgrades to your customers. (Upgraded 12 months ago and upped spend to £45 monthly).. My wife would like my 3g on pay as you go – shes currently with 3 spending £30 a month but you wont be gaining her in the near future without a similar upgrade path to last year. I will probably cut back to £35 monthly price as well…

Overreaction anyone?
Maybe this is a poster that O2 made for their stores in the chance of the 3GS selling out AFTER it launches? If anything, they’re just thinking ahead.
June 18th, 2009 at 11:55 am
O2 in Great Yarmouth taking pre-orders? Funny, I’ve spoken to two stores and none of them have taken any pre-orders – one would only let me “reserve” one on the basis I’d be there at opening time tomorrow morning…
June 18th, 2009 at 11:57 am
Already Sold Out? you gotta be kidding me!!!!

@ Ian
My Bad! I thought it was a pre order. Called today to confirm that they are gonna have enough stock , and the guy said there is plenty(black and white), but I have to pick it up before 1pm.

@PaddyClark:
Maybe you’d like to explain why you think you can break your contract after 12 months and still get an upgrade?
June 19th, 2009 at 8:16 am
@mephisto..
Not going to break my contract… happy to extend… with a 12 monthly model cycle there should be an upgrade path like last year.. By not doing so O2 are missing out on an additional customer in my family… their loss I guess and Ill wait till december at least… but would probably then not change phone until June when the next model will probably be out..
