Next Gen iPhone to Include Video Recording, Editing?

When iPhone 3.0 Beta 1 was released, we saw what looked to be an errant video upload screen. Next it was the apparent ability to receive video MMS. Now more deep diving into the 3.0 beta has turned up resource files that show not only may the next generation iPhone allow not only video recording, but perhaps video editing, including trimming as well. This might be similar to the already surfaced Voice Memo app’s ability to trim audio recordings on device.

Would make a nice addition to that rumored 3.5 or 5 megapixel camera, enhanced CPU and GPU, and fast cell and WiFi networking, wouldn’t it?

    Oh yeah, babe!

I just hope this is for iPhone 3G too, as well for the next-gen iPhone 3G Pro (or iPhone 3.1G, iPhone 3G 2G, etc…)

Apple did everything they liked on the 1G/2G (edge), implemented the AppStore, GPS and 3G on the 3G and listened to the customers on this next one.

They could surprise us by adding a “send by bluetooth” button on the iPod App, right? Or at least implement some basic file system App so we could exchange files.

man! This is the news I wanted to hear!!!!

  4. Drake Says:

Great stuff. I just hope they give video recording to ALL iPhone users. Not just the next-gen.

I hope we get wireless syncing too (kinda like with the Apple TV) that can go over Wifi or bluetooth.

  5. Allen Says:

Even if the next one got video and a better camera, I think I can still wait another year when my contract ends. We shall see.

  6. Tone Says:

@drake I mean that isn’t good business apple can’t give everything for free they are a BUSINESS I give them So much props for making updates like 3.0 available to everyone but jus like GPS is only on 3G somethings u jus gotta pay for

  7. Wesley Says:

@Tone of course they could not give this upgrades for free, but this is a great business model to attract more consumers to their products. Apple is just VERY concerned about the end-user experience, so they could say that the iPhone 2G and 3G cameras aren’t going to give an optimal result, thus not activating video recording.

And these paradigms are changing fast, just look at Windows 7 beta, before that everything from Vista was a leak, now even not-developers can apply for a free license to test the new OS. It’s the customer’s time!

  8. Wesley Says:

I just hope the developers can find some useful exploit to jailbreak this next-gen, because it has been a long time since iPod Touch 2G was released and until now nobody came with a useful process.

If new iPhone hardware is indeed coming this year, it’s going to be great. A lot of improvements have been discussed and many more keep popping up. I can’t wait.

  12. frog Says:

I’ve never used video on any previous phones, and I doubt I’ll use it on a future iPhone.

  14. Adam Says:

I would only use video recordng if there is a front facing camera and a way to upload to YouTube from The iPhone and a YouTube quickcapture app for iPhone.

  15. Icebike Says:

    Yawn.

Color me bored. Why would one want that on a phone. Half the people here were defending apples omission of mms until two weeks ago, now they want video editing?

I would much rather they turned the camera around and lit us use is as a webcam for Skype.

Adding useless functions to a useless camera just because you have the software onthe shelf in the mac is a waste of developer man hours.

What is wwdc lol im new with all this

  17. Steve Says:

A front-facing, smudged-up camera lens to take video of myself. Yeah, that sounds like something I’d use.

  18. Tone Says:

I mean what’s not exciting about video? It’s all I need
