Yet Another AT&T Outage?
Say it is not so AT&T. Another outage seemed to take place this morning, mostly effecting the East coast this time. It was a little over a week ago where myself and Dieter, in the Midwest, noticed something was a little off – to say the least – with our service. Both data and voice were effected then. In the end, that was blamed on a power failure.
Today, here in the Midwest, all is well. But it seems like a lot of East coast customers have some major issues with their data. So all you East coast readers, are you back surfing the web on your beloved iPhone? Or are you still sitting there lost with no data service?
Maybe this has something to do with the recent reports of AT&T beefing up their 3G network? Never the less, hopefully everything is now back to normal!

From around 7AM to 9AM this morning, I had no data service on my iPhone. But it’s fine now. This is in the St. Louis area.

Internet was out this whole morning in Jersey City, NJ. Its good now though

NYC here, I almost threw my iphone out this am , it had no internet. I couldn t get e mail or aim, come on At&t !!!

Yup. My cell service was out from 8am until about 10am. It covered Long Island, Queens & the Bronx.

I was involved in the midwestoutage. Called up AT&T customer service and got 2 days credit put on my account. An hour later it was back. I’m still happy.

Tried using safari around 7:30 this morn, nothing, rebooted, reset, cleared all memory a couple times, nothing, finally started working around 9 am, this is in sheboygan wi.

Working the overnite shift (M-10am) I tend to use my Edge Network a lot. I have notice quite a lot of places where I’ve once used the Edge were down the last fee days of the year… Including around 3am.
But I’ve noticed as of 8:40am today all is back up, Nd seems to be going faster.

This morning a few cello AT&T customers could not hear whencall connected, outgoing callers were unable to hear person on the other e d while incoming callers had the same issue. We called ATT customer service and try said it was a Netheastern issue. I am here I. phiadelphia, swervice went bad around 845 this mornin. Hopefully this will be corrected.

I figured out that the problem is only affecting 3G iphones; not 1st gen iPhones. As a temporary fix I turned off 3G and it works now.

2:40 in Southern California. Service has been out since this morning at 9, and it’s still out now.

I’m in southern california, and I haven’t had service on my iPhone all day! If this is just an AT&T outage, it would be nice of them to notify us before. It would save me a lot of worrying, and I wouldn’t have restored my iPhone to factory settings thinking it could fix the problem. Ughh.

I’m in Southern Cal as well, more precisely in Long beach. For weeks now, I’ve been having all kinds of problems with calls everyday.
These range from taking forever to dial, calls dropping in the middle of a conversation, people can’t hear me but I can hear them, etc, all the while with full bars of reception.
I’ve called them and they seem to want to blame it on my location or the phone itself for the problems. All along they told me that their service showed no outages.
Today, I call them for one more spat of dropped calls and finally the CS person admits that indeed, they’ve been having outages in this area for the last several weeks.
It is despicable that AT&T has such a poor record of service provided and not compensate consumers for the inconvenience and lack of service.
It is about time that we all start a class action suite to recover damages for the losses.
Any attorneys in this forum?

VASCO: There have been outages in DC as well. Also, my most recent bill had an insert that stated the “WE” meaning the customer and ATT would now be bound by arbitration and “barred” from large court class action cases. Instead, we would have to rely on arbitration or small claims courts.
This is terrible service and this attempt to bar class action lawsuits need to be investigated. Any lawyers who want to defend the consumer against ATT?

My Iphone service with At&t has been completely out since last night around 10:30, and it is STILL out!! This is BS!! I’m from central Arkansas, and service is usually pretty good.

June 18, 2009: iPhone 3G and Edge network went completely down at approx 1:00 AM EST. I called AT&T Support first thing this morning (approx 9am EST) and they reported being UNAWARE of any issues but would call me back shortly after investigating. I received a follow-up call at approx 10:30am EST and the support tech admitted to a “WIDE AREA OUTAGE reaching all over Northern Florida”.
There is much suspicion amongst iPhone 3G users that AT&T purposefully disengaged service to allow greater service response from iPhone 3GS users … thereby showing off their new “2x faster” network.
Interestingly, my fellow colleagues who are also on AT&T’s 3G network … using a non-iPhone device … still have uninterrupted 3G service all the while.

Spoke to AT&T on Thursday and they confirmed several 3G towers down in the SF Bay Area and nationwide issues with data and text messaging. As of this AM (Monday) it is still down. Switching to EDGE got me phone service back but th eoverall problem continues… I think AT&T just can’t keep up with Apple…

Louisville, KY-Internet has been out for about 2 hours now. Voice service works fine.

My 3G has been flakey here in DC since yesterday. My iPhone is constantly trying to connect to the 3G and failing, defaulting to EDGE, and then trying the 3G again- leading to quick battery drain. I turned off 3G in the settings just to keep my phone from dying before I get home this evening.
A few hours ago, EDGE gave up and now I have the little circle symbol indicating I’m on whatever craptastic old network that is acting as the EDGE backup.
As I can’t actually make calls, I wrote an email to AT&T customer service at around 10 this morning, with no response.

iPhone server is out in Louisville, KY area. Cannot dial out, cannot connect with server all day to get mail or voicemail.. Anyone with this problem??!!

My Internet is working.. But phone and texts are not. I’m on the east coast! Went back into service for a few minutes this AM, and now it back out!
